1. General

   1. What’s going on here?

      1. You’re Fox, the coordinator of a heist crew attempting to steal everything that’s not nailed down.
      2. The colored messages are the radio chatter among your crew: yellow from Rat (the infiltrator), green from Jackdaw (the thief), cyan from Spider (the hacker), and magenta from Chameleon (the face).
      3. The commands you’re typing in (or the links you’re clicking on) are your instructions to the crew.
      4. The black bar at the bottom of the screen suggests some things that each crew member can do in the current situation.

   2. How does this map work?

      1. It shows the layout of the manor—or at least, the part of it that’s accessible in the current act.
      2. In the web version, you can also click any room to get its description.
      3. Capital letters show where people are: both your crew members (like R for Rat) and your enemies (like B for the butler).
      4. Ticks at the edges of a room indicate that something is sabotaged there.
      5. Dots indicate the butler’s current path.
      6. Stars indicate items that have been moved.

   3. What’s my overall goal?

      1. Steal as much as you can!
      2. Use SCORE to see how much you have.

2. Prologue

   1. What am I supposed to be doing?

      1. Getting your bearings, and learning how the game works.
      2. Try out the different commands suggested at the bottom of the screen and see what works and what doesn’t.

   2. What is my goal here?

      1. You need to get Jackdaw and Rat into the manor.
      2. Which means you need to lure the butler away from the door.

   3. How do I influence the butler?

      1. If you cause a problem, he’ll notice on his butler telemetry and go attend to it.
      2. Has Rat explored the whole garden path?
      3. Sabotage the water feature.

   4. Why does Rat have to hide?

      1. It hides automatically when another person is in the same room.

   5. Shouldn’t a butler be directing a whole staff?

      1. Normally, yes. The butler should be doing something more like…well, more like what you’re doing.
      2. The radio chatter will eventually discuss this.
      3. Count Vespertilion has great difficulty holding onto his employees.

3. Act One

   1. What am I supposed to be doing?

      1. Now that Jackdaw is in the basement, you need to buy her time to steal things.
      2. Create some kind of distraction, then say PROCEED.
      3. The amount of time between the PROCEED and when the butler is back at his tasks determines what she’s able to steal.
      4. Eventually, she’ll find something that can trigger the next act. You’ll probably know it when you see it.
      5. It’s the wifi router for Spider to HACK.

   2. How do I keep the butler distracted?

      1. Sabotage multiple things before you tell Jackdaw to PROCEED. He’ll have to attend to them all before he can check on the security again.

4. Act Two

   1. What am I supposed to be doing?

      1. The same thing as before, really.
      2. Set up a distraction, tell Jackdaw to PROCEED, then see what she can steal.
      3. Now, though, the butler needs certain items on hand to fix the problems.
      4. Specifically, the silver tray, the newspaper, or the curtain rod.
      5. If you can arrange for those items to be left far away from where they’re needed, he’ll have to trek all the way across the house and back.

5. Act Three

   1. What can Chameleon do?

      1. MINGLE will have her make conversation with the guests. Now, wherever she moves, the guests will move with her.
      2. DISENGAGE will reverse that: the guests will remain in their current position and not move when she moves.
      3. You can use this to create two obstacles for the butler: the room full of guests and the room with Chameleon in it.

6. Epilogue

   1. What can I do here?

      1. Wait until something changes on the status bar at the bottom.
      2. That will suggest a new course of action.

   2. I can’t enter the newly-revealed rooms!

      1. Well, Rat can’t enter the newly-revealed rooms.
      2. Someone else can.

   3. But I wasn’t finished grabbing loot!

      1. You may want to UNDO.
      2. Hacking moves on to a new phase of the game; the time for looting is past.

   4. I’m confused. Can you tell me exactly what to do?

      1. Direct the butler to the two newly-revealed rooms, at the top corners of the map.
      2. Attend to the data drive to pick it up.
      3. Bring it to the intercom.
      4. Attend to the intercom to broadcast that information to the guests.
      5. Congratulations!
